About Reaction Time Testers
Reaction Time Testers is a free set of eight reaction tests with plain-language guides. It is an independent project, built and run by one person who wanted honest numbers instead of flashy ones.

Many reaction tests online count the time it takes the page to repaint, ignore early clicks or bury the result under pop-ups. Two people with the same reflexes can get very different scores depending on the site they use.
Reaction Time Testers was built to fix that: a page that opens straight to the test, times every round the same way on any screen, and explains what your number actually means.
How every result is timed
- The clock starts on the exact frame the signal is drawn, not when the code asks for it, so slow screens do not add hidden delay.
- Your first click, tap or key press stops the clock. Anything before the signal is marked as early and the round is replayed, never counted.
- Wait times are random within a fixed range, so you cannot learn the rhythm and guess.
- Scores that are faster than humanly possible are rejected before they can reach a leaderboard.
How the guides are written
Every guide is written in simple words and checked against published studies. When research disagrees we show a range rather than one neat number. Corrections are logged on the updates page with the date they were made.
What you can do here
- Take the classic test, the F1 lights-out start, the Reflex light board, colour, sound, aim, ruler-drop and driving tests.
- Beat a fresh Daily Challenge, keep a streak and collect animal badges for your speed.
- Post a score to the leaderboard with a nickname, or keep it private on your device.
- Read guides on average reaction time, what a good score is and how to improve.
Your data stays on your device
There are no accounts. Your history, settings, streak and favourites are saved in your own browser. A score only leaves your device if you choose to post it, and then only with the nickname you type. The privacy policy explains the details.
Our promises
- Every test stays free, with no sign-up and nothing locked.
- Nothing will cover the test area while you play.
- We collect as little as possible and never sell personal information.
- This is a fun, learning tool, never a medical or driving assessment.
- When you report a mistake, we fix it and say thanks.
